For some people it is a joy to go to work every day because they love their job and the people they work with. For some the job is not important, it’s just to pay the bills but they may like the people they work with. For some going to work is something to dread daily. The atmosphere in the workplace is heavy with jealousies, dislikes, bullying. Its easy to say, get another job but the reality is that its difficult unless you have certain skills which will guarantee you a new position instead of having to compete with 20 others. If we look at office workers, they generally sit in an office filled with other people who all have their own issues and behaviours which will spill out into the workplace. Sometimes its difficult to be able to say to someone ‘I’m not happy with the way you are speaking to me’ or ‘I’m not willing to do someone else’s work on top of my own’, when you’re worried about losing your job or making things harder. This leads to excessive stress which in turn can cause you to make mistakes and potentially lose your job. Its not always something done by co-workers, supervisors and managers can be culprits and often are, and its harder to deal with them if you are worried, not confident, stressed, depressed. This is not your fault; it is not something that only happens to you. This happens every single day to many people. Learning to deal with the stress and also bolstering your confidence to be able to confidently put your feelings across without being aggressive or too timid is something you can learn and use daily. Deciding to do something about it can be a huge relief. Learning to de stress and then gaining the confidence to deal with the toxic people can be liberating and life changing. Not doing so can also be life changing but not in a good way. Spending years on medication to help you get through the day is not looking after your well being as it only holds you steady, everything is still there underneath waiting to get out.
