Hypnosis: ‘A State Of Relaxation & Heightened Awareness’

What Is Anxiety?

Tired woman with headache

Have you ever had those feelings of dread? Sweaty palms, heart racing, feeling hot or cold, when going for an interview, or before some other important event in your life? This is normal and will usually disappear after the event.

However, for some people this carries on for a much longer period and can get worse over time with symptoms escalating to being easily tired, difficulty in concentrating, irritability and sleep problems.

When it gets to this stage it has become a problem and needs addressing, however self diagnosis is NOT realistic as these same symptoms can be attributed to other illnesses, so a visit to your GP is important.

Do many people suffer from it?

Anxiety UK have advised that 1 in 10 people are likely to have a disabling anxiety disorder during their lifetime.

Symptoms can be separated into 2 areas – Physical and Psychological

Physical

· Racing heartbeat

· Shortness of breath

· Chest tightness

· Dry mouth

· Butterflies nausea

· Tremors

· Sweating

· Urge to pass urine/open bowels

Psychological

· Inner tension

· Agitation

· Fear of losing control

· Irritability

· Feelings of detachment

· Dread of something catastrophic happening

Now people won’t necessarily have all those symptoms however they can have more than one. And although someone who is having a difficult time could have one or more of these for a short period, imagine having them for months or years for no apparent reason! Because anxiety does not have to be rational, severe anxiety is an out of proportion reaction to even daily activities.

This little book is full of suggestions on how to live mindfully daily. Using relaxation techniques it can teach you how to be calm and less stressed and anxious. I found it a lovely little introduction to Mindfullness.

How do I get rid of these feelings?

There is no medicine a GP can give which will “cure” anxiety. Recovery relies on dealing internally with issues and the symptoms, usually through some sort of therapy although GP’s will often prescribe medication which masks the symptoms but doesn’t help in the long run. Hypnotherapy helps to find the root of the anxiety and deal with this in a natural and safe way. When you can let go of the underlying issues it leaves you feeling lighter and stronger. Don’t suffer, get help and get your life back on track.

What do I need to do now?
